Innovative Tabless

Technology

For Maximum Efficiency

Exclusively available on the BL4040F these next-generation cells are designed with cutting-edge technology. Tabless lithium-ion cells remove the bottleneck allowing for a much more efficient method of power delivery.

Tabless cells avoid current concentration by connecting the entire end of the electrode to the end of the cell instead of the tabs. This improves battery efficiency, thermal management and overall battery performance. Elevate your workday with the high-output 40V Max 4.0Ah battery – where power, durability, and innovation meet to redefine excellence in tool performance.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Where do I take them?

Simply bring your retired Makita Lithium-Ion batteries to any Makita Factory Service Centres, and pass it to one of our service staff to begin the recycling journey.
  • How does it work?

Once you drop of your retired Makita Lithium-Ion batteries to any Makita Factory Service Centres, the service staff will access the item for recycling suitability. If the item is suitable, it will be securely place in one of our secured recycling bins. Makita has partnered up with Ecobatt to ensure a safe and sustainable recycling process, that correctly dispose harmful substances and extract useful raw materials. For more detailed information on the Ecobatt recycling process click here

  • Any special precautions I need to take?

It is recommended to tape your batteries, as used batteries may still contain residual charge that can create a spark, leading to a potential fire hazard. Preventing this is as simple as using clear sticky tape, non-conductive electrical tape, or duct tape over the exposed battery terminal, or on the top and bottom face for button cell batteries. Please be mindful to keep the battery label information visible if you're not using clear tape. If you are unable to do this, one of the Makita service staff will be able to assist.

  • What kind of batteries can be recycled?

Makita Factory Service Centres staff will only accept genuine Makita XGT 40V Max, LXT 18V or CXT 12V batteries.
  • Why shouldn’t I put batteries in my rubbish or recycling bin?

When batteries or e-waste items end up landfill there is the risk that harmful substances leach into the surrounding environment. By recycling your unused or unwanted items, you can be sure that any hazardous substances are being processed safely.
  • Are batteries dangerous and can they start fires?

Lithium-ion batteries supply power to many kinds of power tools and everyday devices. Like any product, a small number of these batteries can be defective - they can overheat, catch fire or explode. It is therefore important that lithium-ion batteries are disposed of correctly, and are not put in your curb side rubbish or recycling, and instead are responsibly recycled at a centre such as Makita Factory Service Centres.
  • How much will battery recycling cost me?

Drop off for valid Makita batteries is absolutely free.

Operator safety and cordless convenience are offered in Makita's new range of cordless-dustless saws.

For your own safety and best tool performance, please read the safety and operating procedures listed in the instruction manual accompanying each tool.

When using electric tools, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock and personal injury including the following:

KEEP WORK AREA CLEAN.

Cluttered areas and benches invite injuries.

CONSIDER WORK AREA ENVIRONMENT.

Don't use power tools in damp wet locations. Keep work area well lit. Don't expose power tools to rain. Don't use tool in presence of flammable liquids gasses.

KEEP CHILDREN AWAY.

All visitors should be kept away from work area. Don't let visitors contact tool or extension cord.

STORE IDLE TOOLS.

When not in use, tools should be stored in dry, and high or locked-up place - out of reach of children.

DON'T FORCE A TOOL.

It will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was intended.

USE THE RIGHT TOOL.

Don't force small tool or attachment to do the job of a heavy-duty tool. Don't use tool for purpose not intended.

DRESS PROPERLY.

Don't wear loose clothing or jewelery. They can be caught in moving parts. Rubber gloves and non-skid footware are recommended when working outdoors. Wear protective hair covering to contain long hair.

USE SAFETY GLASSES.

Also use face or dust mask if cutting operation is dusty.

DON'T ABUSE THE POWER CORD.

Never carry tool by cord or yank it to disconnect from receptacle. Keep cord away from heat, oil, and sharp edges.

SECURE YOUR WORK.

Use clamps or a vice to hold work. It's safer than using your hand and it frees both hands to operate tool.

DON'T OVERREACH.

Keep proper footing and balance at all times.

MAINTAIN TOOLS WITH CARE.

Keep tools sharp and clean for better and safer performance. Follow instructions for lubricating and changing accessories. Inspect tool cords periodically and if damaged, have repaired by authorised service facility. Inspect extension cords periodically and replace if damaged. Keep handles dry, clean, and free from oil grease.

DISCONNECT TOOLS.

When not in use, before servicing, and when changing accessories, such as blades, bits, cutters.

REMOVE ADJUSTING KEYS AND WRENCHES.

Form habit of checking to see that keys and adjusting wrenches are removed from tool before turning it on.

AVOID UNINTENTIONAL STARTING.

Don't carry plugged-in tool with finger on switch. Be sure switch is OFF when plugging in.

OUTDOOR USE EXTENSION CORDS.

When tool is used outdoors, use only extension cords intended for outdoors and so marked.

STAY ALERT.

Watch what you are doing, use common sense. Don't operate tool when you are tired.

CHECK DAMAGED PARTS.

Before further use of the tool, a guard or other part that is damaged should be carefully checked to determine that it will operate properly and perform its intended function. Check for alignment of moving parts, binding of moving parts, breakage of parts, mounting, and any other conditions that may affect its operation. A guard or other part that is damaged should be properly repaired or replaced by an authorised service centre unless otherwise indicated elsewhere in this instruction manual. Have defective switches replaced by authorised service centre. Don't use tool if switch does not turn it on and off.

GUARD AGAINST ELECTRIC SHOCK.

Prevent body contact with grounded surfaces. For example: pipes, radiators, ranges, refrigerator, enclosures.

REPLACEMENT PARTS.

When servicing, use only identical replacement parts.

VOLTAGE WARNING.

Before connecting the tool to a power source (receptacle, outlet, etc.) be sure the voltage supplied is the same as that specified on the name plate of the tool. A power source with voltage greater than that specified for the tool can result in SERIOUS INJURY to the user - as well as damage to the tool. If in doubt, DO NOT PLUG IN THE TOOL. Using a power source with voltage less than the name plate rating is harmful to the motor.
